3 Ways to Embrace Cold Seasons

“There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil” (Ecclesiastes 2:24a, ESV)…

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials” (James 1:2, NKJV).

Wait a second! I’m supposed to find enjoyment in toil? Count it all joy in trials? Why should I delight in difficulties? Nothing good comes from hardship.

I’m gonna let you think about the answer to that question while we dive into this post 😉

How can we embrace negative-degree weather?

We must…

1 )  Cling to the One who allowed the season.

Instead of blaming God, why don’t we rest in His plan? He knows what He’s doing, and everything He does is for the good of His children. (Romans 8:28)

Going to Jesus for help may sting at first–just like warming frost-bitten feet by the fire. But surrendering our control to Him—allowing Him to break the ice around our hearts—that is the first step to victory.

         2) Not lose heart.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all” (2 Corinthians 4:16-17, ESV).

         3)  Remember that when God takes something away, He always gives something BETTER.

I could fill a book naming all the times God has done this for me. He truly does give the best of everything to His children. When we sign up with Him, we won’t get any junk mail.

Jesus wasn’t lying when He said “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

You offer Him your weakness, and He’ll give you His strength. His grace is enough to pull us through anything, and He never gives more than we can bear.

Rest.  (This point is free ;))
